The Diversity Visa Program (DV Lottery), established by Congress, offers a unique opportunity for up to 55,000 individuals from countries historically underrepresented in U.S. immigration to qualify annually for immigrant visas, commonly known as “Green Cards.” The primary objective of the DV lottery is to enhance the diversity of the U.S. population by broadening the range of nationalities represented among immigrants.

Each year, candidates are randomly selected by a computerized system and receive notification by mail between May and July of the following year. Unfortunately, those not selected are not individually informed.
